On February 17, 2020, Stephanie Jones spoke at a training for the staff and therapists at Kids in the Middle about “The Divorce Process and the Court System”.
The St. Louis agency-based nonprofit organization helps children and adults cope with difficult family transitions. The mission of Kids In The Middle is to “empower children, parents and families during and after divorce through counseling, education and support”.
In her discussion, Stephanie helped to illuminate a number of challenging situations from a legal standpoint, answering questions such as:
- What is legal custody vs physical custody and examples of each,
- What “residential parent status” means,
- The role of a therapist in the divorce process, and
- What a parenting plan can do to help children and adults
“I am honored to support the important work of Kids in the Middle,” Stephanie said. “Understanding of the process and knowing what’s ahead helps ease fear and worry–for kids, parents, staff and therapists alike.”
